I was educated in Philosophy and Human Development at Rutgers, Claremont, and St. Mary's. I trained at the Gestalt Institute of Phoenix and have worked with Zen and Sufi teachers. My approach to therapy combines all of these elements in a process that emphasizes mental clarity and bodily awareness as keys to human growth and spiritual development. I enjoy working with those clients who are interested in working on individual issues as a step toward seeking a path of awareness that will carry them through life. Gestalt therapy is present centered, emphasizing staying in the 'here and now'. It seeks to develop an authentic, 'mindful ' awareness of the actual experienced feeling, as distinct from simply thoughts and ideas about feelings, since it is the actual experienced feeling, not the idea, that leads to change. I have extensive experience working with adolescents and their families (including 12 years directing programs on the Navajo Reservation and in the Gila River Indian Community). I have been a Clinical Director at several agencies in Phoenix. I currently work with families, individuals, and couples.
