I have over 25 years working in the counseling field. I enjoy helping children, adolescents, and their families increase well-being and harmonious relationships while addressing painful symptoms associated with depression, anxiety, and trauma. Utilizing art and music in the process, I work with families to help them find creative solutions to complex issues. My main goal is to preserve and maintain safe and respectful interactions among family members. Oppositional-Defiance, ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Asperger's Disorder, and PTSD, are some of the conditions I join with parents to address. Additionally, I am effective in assisting children with severe abuse-neglect. Adolescents presenting with mood regulation needs and self-harming behaviors are a specialty. DBT Concepts/skills, as well as relaxation, meditation, and mindfulness techniques are interventions used to reduce symptoms and problem behaviors. My practice for the past 20 years has included consultation and counseling in elementary, middle, and high schools. In addition to working with children and families for twenty five years, I have also worked adults, couples, men's groups, and family support groups connected to the National Alliance of Mental Illness. I have special expertise with working with families in conflict who have experienced domestic violence and DHS involvement.
