I received my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Yale University in 1973. My four-year postdoctoral Certificate in Psychoanalysis is from the Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy (1993). Psychotherapy speaks the language of feelings. All of us struggle with painful feelings: fear and insecurity, sadness and grief, shame and guilt, conflict and confusion. All of us suffer traumatic experiences, large or small. I try to listen, attentively and non-judgmentally, to your feelings and experiences. Together, we work to increase self-understanding, understanding of others, and personal growth. People enter psychotherapy with mixed emotions of hope and fear. I try to provide a safe, warm, responsive environment conducive to honest, authentic communication. My work is guided as much by my own years of personal therapy and psychoanalysis as by my formal education. How much you benefit from psychotherapy depends a great deal on the therapist-patient match. We will try to determine early-on if we are a good match for working together.
