Psychotherapy, at its best, helps you accept yourself, your strengths and weaknesses, your virtues and vices. I'll help you harness your healthy drive to grow and grapple with your inhibitions--those old coping strategies that kept you balanced but now impede your growth. Gradually, through understanding, through self-knowledge, you'll shake off their yoke, and more freely cultivate your relationships and enjoy your own chosen work. In this way, I'll help you give your past its rightful place, not as the prison it has been, but as the prologue to your authentic creative life. Healing and growing begins when you feel safe and deeply understood. I create this space with you, by drawing on two decades of work with families, couples, and individuals of all ages, from infants to seniors; by drawing on my thinking and writing; and by drawing on my own psychoanalysis. I have a special interest in helping young children and their parents. Children remind me daily of human vulnerability and hunger for growth. Psychotherapy, a second chance to grow, is the greatest gift of the psychoanalytic tradition and I take great joy in giving that gift to people of all ages.
