People who have Asperger's Syndrome/Autism Spectrum Disorder, Level 1 have to deal with a unique set of challenges, and their parents and families need support in order to help them deal with these challenges. It may be hard for people who do not have a child or family member with AS to understand that a simple trip to the grocery store or a outing to the park can be extremely stressful and disastrous without lots of planning. Parents/families of people with AS often experience feelings like stress, isolation, anxiety. I offer support for parents/families coping with these issues. I have a background in mental health working with children and families. I believe parents are the experts on their children and I work together with them to determine behaviors/needs to be addressed and treatment goals. My approach is eclectic and involves building on the strengths of the parents and the child. I am an advocate for people with AS. I encourage and work with parents to become advocates for their children, and individuals to be advocates for themselves. I also do individual therapy for adults with AS and I offer appointments via Skype.
