Parenting adolescents is a challange under the best of circumstances. Our teens have to deal with seperating from their parents, developing their own uniques identities and value systems, learning to be accountable for their own choice and their emerging sexuality.. Because teens are in a transitional stage from childhood to adult and experience a great deal of normal anxiety, they are more vulnerable to choosing unproductive ways to deal with that anxiety. Effective intervention can ease that transition and help adolescents make more productive decisions. In my over 30 years of practice I have experience in teaching, providing therapy and training professionals to work with adolescents and their families. I have experience in treating both common challanges that adolescents and their families face as well as more serious issues such as drug and alcohol use/abuse and serious oppositional behavior. I taught at Elmira College and developed their first counseling center which I directed for two years. I was director of children and adolescents services at the Tressler Centers of Delaware and have been in private practice for over 25 years specializing in treating adolescents and their families.
