Life happens, usually when we're busy making plans. At any time a person can experience overwhelming loss and change as a result of illness, injury or other traumatic life circumstances. Through the years I have worked with a wide variety of people of all ages. My gentle, yet direct style helps people to feel safe in working through difficult issues and facilitates their growth and recovery. I help individuals learn to recognize their strengths, tolerate, trust and express emotions, and to experience new meaning and joy in their lives. Crisis and transition, often painful and scary, also bring opportunities for growth. Utilizing evidence-based practices (EMDR, Sensori-Motor Psychotherapy, Mindfulness and CBT) tailored to each situation, individuals are helped to recognize thoughts, beliefs and other influences that are having a negative impact on their well-being. New healthier insights and enhanced well-being emerges as this material is processed and integrated. A social worker for the last thirty years, I have worked primarily in the fields of neuro-rehabilitation and mental health. I have been privileged to take part in the healing process of many remarkable people. I offer daytime, evening and weekend hours.
