I believe that even the most difficult symptom a person struggles with began as an earnest attempt to cope with something unmanageable. Deeply understanding that symptom's origin and its initial essential goal can free a person to address whatever unresolved issues remain to be worked through. By gaining this insight, unresolved feelings and beliefs can be experienced and understood, thus eliminating the need to hold on to a symptom that is no longer serving us. I believe the establishment of an authentic therapeutic relationship is the essential foundation from which the process of psychotherapy unfolds. I specialize in the treatment of eating disorders from a psychodynamic perspective. I also have extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, general relationship difficulties, pre- and post-partum depression and anxiety, and identity issues (cultural, LGBTQI, gender).
