My approach to working with clients is both in starting where the client's needs direct our treatment and in establishing trust and safety within the client-therapist relationship. My work experience has involved working with life ages and stages of development from 2-65. I have extensive experience in helping clients who are struggling with trauma, grief and loss issues, anxiety, and those experiencing concerns around sexuality. I believe in a holistic approach to treatment which has been influenced by the work of C.G. Jung, Dialetical Behavioral Therapy, Feminists' models use of empowerment, and family systems work. In 2009 I received a certificate from Simmons College to utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which is an integrative psychotherapy approach to treat trauma. I also have training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy which incorporates methodologies from various practices including Eastern mindfulness. In addition to my 10+ years of clinical experiences, I have conducted multiple trainings in the East Bay area on grief/loss, trauma, bullying, same-sex partner violence/ domestic violence, and I participated in a community healing in Barrington, RI where I discussed the issues of grief and loss.
