I see psychotherapy as a mindful conversation occurring over time. As an experienced psychologist, I have expertise in facilitating the journey of change. The client, however, is always the expert on him or herself. Psychotherapy is a way to help a person clear the obstacles to accessing their inner wisdom. I strive to provide a safe and supportive relationship so that clients' strengths can emerge. My framework is positive psychology - with an emphasis on what is right with a person rather than what is wrong. My goal is to provide high quality listening and thoughtful response to each client. I keep my caseload small to keep quality of service high. I work with diverse issues- seeing clients from young adulthood to those of advanced age. I am certified in EMDR and have a special interest in couples therapy. For 13 years I was on staff at The Traumatic Stress Institute in South Windsor, CT. While I have written about trauma, trained other professionals, and worked with many trauma survivors, since going into solo practice I no longer define myself primarily as a trauma therapist.
