With specialized training and experience in psychological testing and working with children and adolescents, I devote my practice to conducting comprehensive evaluations for learning disabilities (including dyslexia), ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and other processing disorders (e.g., memory, processing speed, etc.). I take my work with children extremely seriously, as I believe early and accurate identification of problems can lead to interventions that are key to helping children have healthy, productive futures. I do not "enter lightly" into diagnoses, and therefore do not rely on 'brief' IQ meausures or academic 'screening' measures. Comprehensive evaluations can include IQ testing, academic testing (word reading, word decoding, reading comprehension, reading fluency, spelling, written expression, math reasoning, calculation skills, math fluency), executive functioning testing (sustained attention, impulse control, planning, cognitive flexibiltiy, self-monitoring, rule maintenance), memory and learning testing, and processing tests (visual processing, auditory processing). Dr. Blakeman is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with specialized training in working with children and adolescents, birth through 18 years of age. Areas of specialization including early behavior problems, coping with chronic illness, anxiety and depression in childhood/adolescence, and psychological/neuropsychological testing for learning disabilities and ADHD.
