I help couples, families, and individuals to address areas of their lives that have disrupted or damaged their life goals, relationships, and self-worth. I specialize in psychotherapy for a variety of emotional disorders, behavioral disorders, and personality disorders, with an emphasis on developing real-life solutions that utilize a client's natural strengths, beliefs and values, and cultural context. Sometimes, a psychological assessment is helpful before or during therapy. Psychological testing offers clients an in-depth view of how their lives are affected by complex mental health issues. A psychological evaluation also can be a critical part of gaining access to other services, such as specialized educational programs, experiential treatment programs, and disability assistance. The process of therapy can seem daunting. I know the most difficult problems we face are most often those we feel we have to avoid. Starting therapy is courageous and self-affirming. I strive to develop a working relationship where such courage can be nurtured and to create a foundation for genuine life changes.
